Watch Series 7
Apple, 2020-2021
Apple Watch can do what your other devices can’t because it’s on your wrist. When you wear it, you get a fitness partner that measures all the ways you move, meaningful health insights, and a connection to the people and things you care about most. Stay in touch with a tap on a walk or in the water. The Series 7 Watch has the largest display which enhances the entire experience, making this watch the easiest to use and read.
The challenge was to create a bigger display while barely expanding the dimensions of the watch itself. To do so, the display was completely re‑engineered, reducing borders by 40%. As the sensing product design engineer, I owned the development and integration of new touch sensor technology onto an OLED panel, creating one unified component.
This project required extensive cross-functional collaboration from early proof-of-concept prototypes through failure analysis in ramp. I designed and built sketch models for quick electro-mechanical validation, created new failure analysis techniques, solved and implemented corrective actions on novel issues, and designed experiments to assess product assembly processes, constraints, and risks of new features.
You can convince yourself to get one here or buy it on on Apple.

The Series 7 display (top/left), with its integrated OLED + touch sensor layer, detaches completely from the cover glass. The Series 6 (bottom/right with the thicker bezel) used a separate touch sensor layer that stays laminated to the glass.
