After performing user research we found that musicians find page turning to be an obtrusive task while reading and playing music. Volti, a musical page turner, enables musicians to page turn not with their hands but with a foot pedal.
Turning the page consists of two basic actions - page separation and page flipping. To separate pages we used an adhesive pad on an actuated four bar linkage to pull one page away from those behind it. To flip the page, we use a center 'wiper' that moved along a slot to get behind the separated page and flip it.
For this product I was the housing team lead, delegating the work for my team members and designing the form of the device. This position developed several skills including system integration tactics, wood and metal manufacturing, and industrial design.
*In the early phases of product ideation, we developed several ideas into proof-of-concept prototypes. Myself and a team of 3 built the first version of Audawear, a hazard indication device for the blind based on risky sound proximity. You can find details on Audawear from our initial pitch and demo, linked in blue.
