RIB is the result of exploring manufacturing simplification. With a strive to create a sustainable and accessible chair — low cost materials and simple assembly — the chair is designed to be made from one 4’x8’ sheet of plywood that is press-fit together by hand.
Inspired by the Oskar chair, the shape of RIB is a result of studying the expression of a lounge chair. With a strive to evoke relaxation, the chair embodies simplicity and predictability with a repetition of lines that yield into an ergonomic seat. This chair is meant to feel comfortable, stable and solid yet open and welcoming. The overall form and construction of RIB references classic Scandinavian design values.
